Pastoral Care in a Globalised World

Price per Unit (piece): R150.00 (including 14 % tax)

In Africa religion in general and Christianity in particular is ever growing, making it an important phenomenon in responding to the needs of humanity. In Europe the opposite is true, religion in general and Christianity in particular is declining due to secularisation leading to the same question as in Africa – what is the role of religion in the socio-economic and political context of Europe? This book is a result of a conference of academics and pastoral practitioners from Europe and Africa sharing about their pastoral life and pastoral identities in a globalised world.

Existing scholarly literature and experiential knowledge of the participants was analysed and interrogated in the context of a globalised community. The book critically engages topics such as HIV and AIDS, prosperity gospel, church and state relations, poverty and unemployment, globalisation and the church, gender and pastoral identities.

Herbert Moyo is responsible for the Ministerial Studies/Practical Theology programme and is the director for the Collaborative for HIV and AIDS, Religion and Theology (CHART) at the School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics, University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
